XWAGENS takes convoys of camper vans and 4×4s off-grid across Egypt. Their site is the journey itself: a map of Egypt drawn from the real terrain, a convoy that drives as you scroll, and every expedition opening as its own chapter.

What we built

  1. 01A WebGL map of Egypt made from real terrain data, from the Delta to the Red Sea
  2. 02A convoy that drives the map as you scroll, stopping at every expedition
  3. 03Their vans modelled in Blender and parked at basecamp in Wadi Degla
  4. 04A page for every expedition, with the real road drawn from Cairo
  5. 05Story, media and chapter sign-ups around the map
  6. 06The map's terrain and roads baked ahead of time, so it opens fast
